Grand Lodge Youth of the Year Award

Dear Masonic Youth Groups of Michigan:
Job’s Daughters, Rainbow for Girls & DeMolay.

The Youth Committee of the Grand Lodge of Michigan is pleased to announce an annual Grand Lodge “Youth of the Year” Award to be presented to an outstanding member of either the Job’s Daughters, Rainbow for Girls or DeMolay.

The following is an outline of the award:

  1. One annual award to be presented to a member in good standing of either the Job’s Daughters, Rainbow for Girls or DeMolay.
  2. The recipient will be presented with an award of $500.00. In addition, the recipient’s home Bethel, Assembly or Chapter will receive a cash award of $100.00.
  3. A plaque with the recipient’s name & the youth group inscribed will be presented to the recipient’s Bethel, Assembly or Chapter for display during the year. The plaque must be returned (in order to be passed on to the next year’s recipient) by May 1st, to the following address: Grand Lodge of Michigan F. & A.M. 1204 Wright Avenue Alma, Michigan 4881-1133 Attention: Awards
  4. A smaller plaque will be given to the recipient to keep at the time of the award.

Award Criteria:

  1. Each application must include the name, home address, home or cell phone number, e-mail address; date of birth, parent/guardian names, name of youth group applicant belongs to, the number of years of involvement and current/past positions in the group.
  2. Each applicant must submit an essay (between 300 and 500 words) based on a topic selected by the Grand Lodge Youth Committee.
  3. List of the applicant’s community involvement / volunteer service / awards / achievements
  4. Presiding Grand Officers (GBHQ, GWA, and SMC) are not eligible.
  5. Other groups, teams or organizations the applicant belongs to.
  6. Signature of Applicant, Parent/Guardian & local Youth Group Adult Leader.

Timing:

  1. Information on the award will be distributed to each of the three State Youth Group Leaders, by September 15th of each year for distribution, throughout their respective groups.
  2. Applications must be returned to the Grand Lodge Office by April 1st .
  3. Applications will be considered confidential and reviewed internally by the Grand Lodge Youth Committee.
  4. The Youth Committee will select the recipient and the decision of the Committee will be final.
  5. The recipient will be contacted by the Committee on or before May 1st each year.
  6. The recipient will be announced at the annual Communication of Grand Lodge in May/June.
  7. The Youth Committee, along with the Grand Master, will make arrangements with the recipient for the presentation of the Award.
